Changes to test fees

The Driving Standards Agency has today announced the results of last autumn's consultation on the increase of test fees.

Driving theory tests for car drivers booked on or after 30th March will be £31.00.

Practical tests for car drivers again booked on or after 30th March will be £62.00 for a week day test. Evening and weekend tests are £75.00.

Tough Penalties for Speeding Drivers

The Government have announced that they are considering giving a six-point penalty to all drivers who exceed the speed limit by more than 20mph.

Remember if you reach 12 points or more this means an automatic disqualification, so under the new plans a motorist could lose their licence for just two speeding offences !!

At the same time the consultation paper also suggests the creation of a formal drug-drive limits in a bid to make the prosecutions for 'driving under the influence of drugs' easier to achieve.

Government minsters have said this move was amied at cutting the injury toll on Britians roads with 2,946 deaths and 30,000 serious injuries in 2007.
